Hornady RAPiD Safe Compact Ready Vault
3.5/5 Best Safe Score (how we score)
My pick for a rifle or two is Hornady's 80 lb RFID cabinet: a 10 x 10 in footprint, five hardened locking lugs, four tags and a WiFi alert to your phone when it opens.

Who it's for
- Best RFID gun safe for a few long guns in Best RFID Gun Safe – 5 Tag-Entry Picks From Nightstand to Long Guns: Someone who keeps a home-defense rifle or shotgun in a bedroom corner or closet; at 80 lb it must be screwed to a wall stud, and Amazon showed only one unit left.
What we like
- RFID with four tags (watchband, key fob, two decals), code and key
- Five hardened locking lugs; WiFi app alert when the vault is opened
- A 10 x 10 in footprint, pre-drilled to screw to a wall stud
What to know first
- Hornady's 4-handgun rack is too wide for it, says The Armory Life
- At 80 lb it is light enough to carry off if not anchored
