Pacsafe Travelsafe GII 5L
2.8/5 Best Safe Score (how we score)
I picked this soft safe for camper vans with no room for a steel box: it weighs 0.91 lb, folds flat, is lined with Pacsafe's eXomesh stainless steel wire mesh, and its cut-resistant strap locks around a fixed object.

Who it's for
- Best soft safe for vans and campgrounds in Best Safe for RV and Motorhome – 6 Picks to Bolt, Tether or Carry: Van and campground travelers who need to leave a passport, phone, cash and a tablet behind for a few hours; it stops a quick grab, but a thief with cutters and time can still get in.
- Best for hotel rooms and beaches in Best Travel Safe – 2 Picks for Hotel Rooms, Beaches and Cars: Travelers who leave a passport, phone, cash and a tablet in a hotel, hostel, rental or on a beach lounger; it stops snatch-and-run theft, but a thief with cutters and time can still get in, and it fits an 11-inch tablet, not most laptops.
What we like
- Weighs 0.91 lb and folds flat (1.2 in deep), so it disappears in a suitcase (Pacsafe)
- eXomesh wire mesh in the fabric and a cut-resistant anchor strap that locks around a fixed object
- Owners use it on beach loungers and inside hotel room safes they do not trust
What to know first
- The bundled 3-dial lock is small; reviewers suggest swapping in a sturdier lock and practicing with it before the trip
- Fabric is water resistant, not waterproof; one owner's safe got soaked under a leaking sink
